Happy New Moon, Cosmic Funk fam!

Happy first New Moon of 2025 - and what a season, what a time to be in. New Moons are a time of transformation, a time of rebirth. This is the perfect period to welcome in change, to manifest, to start over, to think of any new beginnings you are ready to embark on. The energy in the air is buzzing with how we can come together - how we can connect - and Aquarius is the perfect sign to give us guidance.

Aquarius, rule by Uranus (the planet of change and rebellion), is a revolutionary and creative sign. They are known for their free spirit, their analytical and progressive minds, and their love to express themselves. Now is the perfect time to utilize this energy to create - to connect - to come together. Community is needed more than ever, and take the energetic, revolutionary spirit of Aquarius to design - to create more art, more happiness, more expression.

Art is one of the most revolutionary acts that we can do. To create in anyway - to elicit joy, to evoke emotion, to spread a message - or as a way to simply come together in community. These are the small rebellious acts that we can do together to combat the other messages being spread in this country - rebel against that. Come together with your loved ones, support each other, and provide space to welcome all in.

This New Moon in Aquarius invites us to look at more ways we can create together. Aquarius is not afraid of technology, and in a time where technology surrounds us, utilize it in a way that feels supportive to you. See it as a tool, embrace it in anyway that feels good, and play around with it.

Light is slowly coming back in - we are past the darkest ten weeks of the year, and the days are slowly becoming longer. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Feel the sense of being alive start to waken up - remember, we are still in the middle of winter, so rest is important, as is nurturing and caring for yourself. Do that with a little more sun on your skin.

Utilize the independent energy of Aquarius to look at how you can contribute more joy in your community. How can you welcome in more happiness, exude even more warmth, and widen the safe spaces?

New moons are a time of manifestation, of welcoming in, of planting seeds. It is always a great time to reflect and look in - what are you putting energy in, and is this still in alignment? What are you ready to make space for, to add into your life?

Create. Add in more joy and love into your space. Hug a little longer. Make sure your community feels safe and welcome. Set intentions for how you wish to show up, for the energy you wish to put out.

Joy is beautiful when shared. Find, create, and share joy, no matter how big or how small.

ALIGNED ACTION

Set the scene (you know we love this). Clean up your space. Make a mug of tea in your favorite mug. Light a candle. Turn the lamps down low. Set up some music to get your creative juices flowing. Sit down to doodle - to draw - to paint - to write - to collage - whatever it may be. Create just for the act of creating. Don’t worry about having an end goal - maybe just sit down to see what comes up. Lean into the creative spirit of Aquarius. Give yourself time to do this. Creating is special when shared - create with yourself, and then also invite your friends, family, anyone to sit with you. Paint together, color something in, draw, whatever it may be. Get some clay and sculpt it, even find some play doh to make something silly out of. Create, and create joy together.
