Funk It is comprised of Markie Russell and Chloe Russell, two small-town, Montana born cousins and best friends.

The idea of Funk It was born while soaking in natural hot springs and getting lost in deep conversations about the environment and thinking - what can we do to help? The sad reality of textile waste combined with multiple Missoula thrift shops unable to take donations during the pandemic (thus meaning even more clothing went to the landfill) inspired us to start our own thrift shop, centered around affordability and sustainability.
Both of us have a deep love for coffee shops and everything coffee shops mean to us, whether that be a delicious drink, catching up with a friend, or making that spot your home while you read, do homework, or work. While on our travels abroad, we would always seek out coffee shops that made us feel warm and welcomed. We loved finding our own piece of home all over the world anywhere we went. This love turned into romanticizing and dreaming about what it would be like to open a shop.
Thus, the idea was born – a thrift and coffee shop. For over three years we set up our little pop-up thrift shop all around Missoula, sharing our business dreams and connecting with the community. We hosted events and constantly brainstormed ways to make a vibrant impact with a permanent location.
We love the thrill of the thrift - unearthing unique pieces that reflect your true self. Funk It hopes to inspire play in life. We're all about embracing the joy in everyday moments, staying present, and keeping that inner child alive. Life is too short for boring clothes! Shopping sustainably lets you express yourself while being mindful of Mother Earth. Every pre-loved item you find means less waste in landfills.
