sustainability

what we hope for

Funk It strives to be as sustainable as possible and promises to continuously grow in our practices. Thrifting is a sustainable form that we know well – not only do we love the dance of digging through clothes to find treasures, but every time you extend the life of an item, textiles stay out of the landfill.

Thrift

The average amount of textile waste per person came out to be 70 pounds per year, PER PERSON. This astronomical number was disheartening and the ugly truth of fast fashion shows the impact on our environment. Funk It aims to share the sustainability and affordability of thrifting. If you no longer wear an article, that article deserves to be loved and used by another. Shopping secondhand for clothes helps saves the environment and rewrites patterns of over consuming fast fashion.

Coffee

All of Funk It’s to-go containers are compostable, and we compost and recycle everything that we can – thus making our trash impact extremely small. Funk It strives to not throw out any donations we take – our goal is if we can’t sell it, to pass it on to another space in our community that may need it, repurpose it in some other way, or recycle. We are staying up to date with textile recycling and educating ourselves so that we can hopefully one day be a hub for textile recycling.

We only have one Mother Earth. Let’s take care of her, together. Remember to inspire others with your practice and to encourage growth with one another, never shame. We lift each other up to lift our world up, one small habit at a time.
